Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has committed to initiating high-level diplomatic efforts aimed at repatriating Nepali nationals currently serving in the Russian Army.

This announcement surfaced during a significant meeting between Prime Minister Dahal and representatives of a campaign advocating for the safety of Nepali soldiers in the Russian Army, held at the official residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar.

Prime Minister Dahal assured attendees of the government's steadfast commitment to address their demands, citing ongoing diplomatic initiatives. He underscored the government's persistent engagement in efforts to safeguard the lives of Nepali citizens, particularly those serving abroad. Prime Minister Dahal disclosed that he personally reached out to Nepali soldiers stationed in conflict zones and ongoing discussions were being facilitated through diplomatic channels to assess their conditions.

The assurance follows a notable sit-in protest staged by families of Nepali soldiers serving in the Russian Army in Kathmandu, urging the government to facilitate their return home. The sit-in was temporarily suspended following a commitment from Prime Minister Dahal's Public Relations Expert, Buddhi GC, to address their grievances. Fulfilling this promise, Prime Minister Dahal convened with the families and reiterated his pledge to actively work towards repatriating Nepali soldiers serving in the Russian Army.
